Workington AFC — Voluntary Position
Workington AFC is looking for a reliable and community-minded individual to join us as a Volunteer Community & Mascot Coordinator. This is a hands-on role that sits right at the heart of our match-day experience and our work with the next generation of Reds supporters.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for two connected areas of the club's community work:
Mascot Scheme Coordination — You'll manage all mascot bookings, liaise with grassroots coaches and ensure every child and their family has a memorable experience on match day — from their first contact with the club to walking out of the tunnel with the team.
Grassroots & Community Liaison — You'll be the main point of contact for local junior clubs and schools, helping to organise and support soccer schools, community events and any charity initiatives the club is involved in.
Match Day Support — You'll work as part of the match-day team to ensure all community activity and mascSupportot appearances run smoothly and safely.
Who We're Looking For
We're not necessarily looking for someone with a long list of qualifications — we're looking for the right person. That means someone who is:
— Well organised and dependable, with the ability to manage bookings and communications reliably.
— A confident communicator, comfortable dealing with parents, coaches, young people and club officials.
— Genuinely invested in Workington AFC and its place in the local community.
— Available on home match days and able to commit to the role consistently.
What We Offer
In return for your time and commitment, you'll receive:
— Free entry to all home matches.
— A full set of club-branded leisurewear.
— A genuine behind-the-scenes role within the club on match days.
— The satisfaction of directly shaping the experience of young supporters and their families.
How to Apply
If you're interested, please send a short email to richard@workingtonafc.com outlining your interest and any relevant experience.
Alternatively, come and speak to us directly at the club — we'd be happy to tell you more about what the role involves.
