Two games to go in what has been a demanding August, before the NPL fixture calendar eases slightly.

For the second successive home game, Reds recovered from a 2-0 deficit but, unlike the recent Guiseley fixture, they finished with a victory – their first in a competitive outing at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

As good as Saturday’s result was at Broadhurst Park, it will feel even better if we can take something from Warrington Rylands, tonight, making a fifth visit to Workington but their first to the Fibrus Community Stadium.

An eventful afternoon at Broadhurst Park culminated in Reds obtaining that elusive first win of the season, at the fifth attempt, extending their unbeaten record on the ground to four matches in the process. Workington scored all three goals in this early season bottom four clash and that was obviously a major talking point afterwards. After over a fortnight without any action, Reds will travel to Lancashire on Saturday for what will be a testing afternoon against Clitheroe (3pm).

Billy Barr’s squad has been going through the pre-season schedule making steady progress, but face an important fortnight before the serious, competitive football gets underway in early August.

An open invitation to the biggest house-warming party was well received, with almost 1,400 fans turning out to see Reds launch their groundshare with Workington Town RLFC at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
