MATCH PREVIEW: Yorkshire bound

Reds head for the ‘white rose’ county this weekend and, whilst it is always a good match day experience at Guiseley, imagine what it would be like if we actually won there for a change.

Nethermoor just happens to be one of those grounds where we never fare well and the odds will be probably stacked against us for Saturday’s Premier Division encounter. Guiseley were the first team to inflict defeat upon Billy Barr’s team just after his appointment in November and will be keen to maintain their impressive record against us.

In the grand scheme of things, however, it is probably more important that Reds gain maximum points in the two games after Guiseley – against Stocksbridge Park Steels and Hyde United respectively – but it would be fantastic to extend the unbeaten run in Yorkshire.

Ian Richards’ side are currently in 12th position with 39 points from 31 games and are ten points better off than Workington, who go into the game still at the bottom of the table. They have won seven home games and drawn four, although Rushall Olympic, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ilkeston Town and Cleethorpes Town have all taken points from Guiseley on their own patch.

Reds’ only victory at Guiseley was back in 2004 and since we were ‘reacquainted’ in 2023, we have lost, there, 3-4 and 0-2.

With a suspension and long-term injuries still to contend with, the manager will rely on a similar squad to the one which obtained maximum points last time out.
