Family, friends and notable members of the football fraternity turned out in force to say a fond farewell to former Workington manager, Les O’Neill, who died last month.
Les was Reds’ boss between October 1989 and July 1991 having played for Newcastle United, Darlington, Bradford City, Carlisle United and Queen of the South in a distinguished professional career.

He remained in football as a well-respected scout, serving numerous clubs the length and breadth of the country, and his love of the game was matched by a passion for golf.
Above all, though, he was a family man and a friend to many.

Ahead of Tuesday’s funeral at Carlisle Crematorium, the cortege did a lap of Brunton Park where Les’s photograph was displayed throughout the day on the big screen.
