A fond farewell

Family and friends said a fond farewell to Colin Doorbar on Thursday as they celebrated the life of the former Workington AFC chairman.

Colin passed away last month at the age of 82, with the funeral service held on what would have been his birthday.

The ceremony was led by Celebrant, Will Tillotson, at the Distington Hall Crematorium and family friend, Andrew White, read a wonderful tribute to the congregation, many of whom wearing ‘something red’ in recognition of Colin’s passion for Workington Reds.

Colin’s immediate family, daughter Amanda, son-in-law Ali and granddaughter, Rachel were supported by friends and relatives with the WAFC family represented by Board members, past and present, former players and supporters. 

The cortège drove past Borough Park, one final journey Colin would have appreciated, en route to Distington.
