The young Reds opened their JPL account with six of the best, just a week after they had conceded half a dozen themselves.
Their opening fixture had resulted in a 6-1 reverse at Marine but they got back on track with an impressive display of their own.
Burscough had actually made the brighter start in the morning kick-off at Borough Park but, once Reds broke the deadlock after eighteen minutes, there wasn’t much doubt about the outcome.

Joe Douglas opened the scoring with a well taken goal and, four minutes later, they doubled the lead with another impressive strike from Joe Carney.
Alfie McDonough then stole the limelight with his second hat-trick of the season, netting Reds’ third, fourth and fifth goals as Burscough were forced into submission.
McDonough’s first was from a direct free-kick about twenty-two yards out which saw the hosts reach the interval three goals to the good.
His second came soon after the interval when he reacted first to the rebound after the ball struck the woodwork, and he converted from close range.
A good passing move culminated in McDonough being put through on goal and he completed his hat-trick with a clever, disguised finish wrong-footing the Burscough’ keeper.
Workington completed an impressive victory when Lucas Palmer blasted home from eight yards when Burscough failed to clear the ball from a corner.

Reds are next in action at Borough Park on Friday (7.30pm) when they host Spennymoor Town in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup.
Team: Rumney, Routledge, Harrison, Jackson, White, Cueto, Douglas, Thomson, Fulton, Carney, McDonough. Substitutes – Pickering O, Rogers, Palmer, Amor (all used).
