Reds and FC United of Manchester have plenty of incentive to succeed in Tuesday’s re-staged FA Trophy tie at Borough Park as the winners will be at home to Bamber Bridge in the next round.
Bamber Bridge knocked Reds out of the competition at the same stage last season and also won at Borough Park in the competition back in 1997.
But before we can even contemplate facing ‘Brig once again, there is the small matter of completing the delayed Third Round Qualifying tie against FC United.
Storm Amy could be blamed for Saturday’s postponement after damage to the roof on the Popular Side of the stadium. Ironically, the pitch was playable despite the torrential rain on Friday.
The loose sheeting has been removed and that area of the ground has been made safe ahead of the second encounter between the teams this season.
Last month, the two sides played out a goalless draw in the league fixture.
The winners will host Bamber Bridge on the 25 October with the winning prize money for the First Round tie a welcome £3,000.
Tuesday’s winners will pocket £2,450 with the consolation cheque amounting to £625.
Monday’s draw produced a seventh consecutive home tie for Reds in the Trophy!
