MATCH PREVIEW: Derby day

No respite for ‘non-league’ players as the August fixtures come thick and fast.

Reds are back on the road on Monday and make the short journey down the M6 to face old rivals, Lancaster City.

Jimmy Marshall’s Dolly Blues have made a good, solid start to the campaign with seven points in the bank after narrow wins over Hebburn Town (3-2) and Morpeth Town (1-0) and a commendable draw (0-0) at Gainsborough Trinity.

They lost their opening two fixtures against FC United of Manchester (0-2) and Hyde United (0-1).

One or two players suffered knocks in Saturday’s draw against Ashton United so the full squad will travel to the Giant Axe.

There hasn’t been much between the teams in recent encounters and both games resulted in a 1-1 draw last term.

City are 10th in the embryonic Premier Division table, Reds are still looking up at the rest from 21st. FC United of Manchester have made the best start and are the early leaders.
