NEW SIGNING: New boy Finlay keen to get going

Danny Grainger has boosted his defensive options after adding former Preston North End teenager, Finlay Wallbank, to his evolving Workington squad.

And the talented defender is keen to get started with his new colleagues as a new chapter of his career unfolds.

A centre half by trade, Wallbank, 18, can also operate on the right and left in a back four, or five, and has committed his immediate future to the Reds despite interest from another Northern Premier League club.  The versatile defender has been with his hometown club for seven years, progressing through the ranks, and, last term, was a regular in North Endโ€™s U19 side and also played a prominent role in their run to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Finlay, whose elder brother Ellis played for Colne at Borough Park last season, wonโ€™t have long to wait to meet his new team mates with the first team and Development Squad reporting for pre-season training on Saturday.

Delighted Reds boss Grainger said, โ€œIโ€™m delighted to confirm our second signing of the summer and look forward to working with Finlay.  He has a hunger to succeed and Iโ€™m sure he will quickly adapt to his new surroundings.โ€
