Development team elected to County League

The club’s revamped Development Squad will play their football in the Cumberland County League from the start of the new season after their election was ratified at the AGM on Monday.

They will take their place in Division 1 (second tier) of the League alongside ten other teams – Crown Newlaithes, Mirehouse, Moor Row, Northbank, Pirelli, Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves, Whitehaven Miners Social, Windscale Reserves, Workington Juniors (Black) and Unisun Athletic.

There will also be eleven teams competing in the Premier Division: Aspatria, Bransty Rangers, Carlisle City Development, Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves, Cockermouth, Gosforth, Maryport Athletic, Silloth, Wigton Harriers, Workington Athletic and Workington Juniors (White).

Like every other league in the country, there are no potential dates for a restart at the moment so we don’t know if league matches will be played on a home and away basis or just a ‘one-off’ game but, hopefully, that will be determined in the near future.

The Development Squad will play their home matches at the Copeland Stadium in Whitehaven which will also be the base for RITC for the foreseeable future.

They have trained together for the past few weeks and several members of the group have also attended first team training sessions at Penrith.

Brian Dawson will manage the team with Craig Johnston his assistant.
