Widnes in town (for football)

Workington v. Widnes is a fixture more familiar to Derwent Park but not on Saturday.

It’s the round ball at Borough Park with Widnes making their first ever visit for the latest BetVictor North West action (3pm).

And after two cup matches which produced a shed load of goals, it is league points at stake as Reds hope to return to winning ways after last week’s setback at Mossley.

Manager Danny Grainger will again make numerous changes but will have options for every position following the Integro League Cup success over Kendal. Several players produced a timely reminder to the boss that they deserve a starting place against Widnes.

The Halton Stadium outfit have only played one home match so eight of their points have been obtained on the road and solid draws at Marine and Kendal Town have been supplemented with an excellent win at Colne.

A good weather forecast should ensure another decent attendance for the first Saturday home game since the opening weekend.
