The Victory Bond committee and the Supporters Club are re-launching the War Chest for season 2019-20.
The War Chest was never intended to be an annual event, more a response to a freak injury crisis. It was an unqualified success, raising in excess of £11,000.
However…. rather a lot has happened to us since then. We’ve been relegated, we were jilted at the altar by one of our favourite sons. Our home leaks more than ever and our ground safety certificate could cost us an arm and a leg! On the other hand….. We have a shiny new manager who appears to be getting on with business in an impressive way. If our temporary move to Derwent Park is rubber-stamped we will have fixed costs for probably the first time ever (consider that).
Our hardworking Commercial Manager will have vastly improved hospitality facilities. We are being genuinely made welcome at Derwent Park. The investment in the pitch is significant and should give us a great playing surface. The New Stadium is still a distinct possibility.
To summarise: It’s not boring supporting the Reds. This year we are asking our fellow supporters to consider a straightforward donation to the War Chest, of any amount you feel appropriate- to try and help us succeed on the pitch. Like last year, all monies collected will be made available to the manager, ringfenced, to be used only in order to strengthen the squad. Anyone wishing to donate by cash can make payment to myself, Lewis Wright or Paul Armstrong.
This year we will be inviting the West Cumbrian business community to contribute to the same overall fund with a Pledge Appeal and Networking Event. If anyone would like further details of the business pledge event please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I hope people will help us grow our club again.
