Two in, two out

Workington supporters demanded major surgery to the squad after last season’s failings and the summer of change continued with two more departures confirmed as a couple of talented youngsters agreed to sign.

Luke Ivison

Danny Grainger confirmed that Aaran Taylor and Matty Douglas would not be returning to the club next term.

“We made fair offers to keep them at the club but both wanted a new challenge,” the manager explained.

Douglas agreed terms initially but then had a change of heart and confirmed he was leaving after three successful years with the club. He was a triple ‘player-of-the-year’ recipient in his second season and has started 122 games in total.

Taylor only missed two matches last term and had amassed over 290 appearances for the Reds in three spells at Borough Park.

The club would like to go on record and thank the pair for their distinguished service over recent seasons and wish them well as the next chapter of their respective careers unfolds.

On a brighter note, talented duo, Luke Ivison and Liam Brockbank, have agreed terms with the manager and will be keen to make an impact in senior football in the months ahead.

Liam Brockbank

Ivison got a brief taste of first team football towards the end of the campaign having progressed via the Reserves whilst Millom based Brockbank was released from Carlisle United after starring in their Cumberland Cup Final success over Penrith.

Both players featured for Reds in the recent ‘Legends’ game at Borough Park.
