Trophy trail underway

An early morning pitch inspection at the Butcher’s Arms will determine if Saturday’s FA Trophy Preliminary Round tie goes ahead at Droylsden.

If the game gets the thumbs-up, it will be Reds third cup match in a week with the juniors representing the club in the Cumberland Cup and FA Youth Cup and the seniors returning for the first of two scheduled trips to east Manchester.

Droylsden, who knocked Workington out of the FA Cup at Borough Park eight years ago, have been regular league opponents over the years and can reflect on a solid start to their campaign with thirteen points obtained to date and a current position of 11th.

Winners and losers will be rewarded in the Trophy this season with a 75% – 25% split (£2,250 and £750) the prize money on offer at this stage of the competition.

Kick-off 3pm
