TROPHY DRAW: On the road (again) in Trophy

Reds’ reward for Saturday’s emphatic away win over Pontefract Collieries is another tie on the road in the Third Round Qualifying.

We will travel to play NPL South East side Glossop North End at Surrey Street on Saturday week, 31 October.

It will be the third time we have been paired with the Derbyshire outfit in the Trophy, the most recent occasion being three years ago.

The first game finished in a goalless draw and, before the replay, we knew a plumb home tie v. Hartlepool United awaited the eventual winners.  And a straightforward 5-1 success at Borough Park guaranteed that memorable match against ‘Pools.

Scott Allison and Dav Symington (2) scored in the replay as did Matty Douglas and Sam Joel.

We also met during the 1986-87 season and, following a 1-1 home draw, we lost the replay next day, 1-0.

Glossop were controversially shifted to the eastern division last season and they are currently 16th in that section with five points obtained to date.

There will be no replay this time, of course, with the tie settled on the day via a penalty shoot out if the scores are level after ninety minutes.
