Top scorers in town

The first of three consecutive Tuesday night games at Borough Park will see free-scoring Colne visiting west Cumbria.

They arrive as BetVictor North West’s leading scorers having scored ten goals in their opening four league games.  In addition, they also bagged four in an FA Cup tie so head for Workington in confident mood.

Although we have met Colne Reserves several times in recent years, this will be the inaugural fixture at Borough Park between the respective first teams.  In fact, we have only met the current Colne side once and that was almost two years ago in an Integro League Cup tie.

Reds emerged 2-1 winners that night in east Lancashire with current squad members Gari Rowntree, Dan Wordsworth, Dav Symington, Sam Smith, Nathan Waterston and Scott Allison all involved at Holt House.

Managed by Steve Cunningham, Colne are in 8th position having won twice, drawn once and lost once so far.  When they started their campaign, goals were obtained early in the game but nine of their last ten goals have been netted in the second half of matches, suggesting they are resilient at first – then pounce!

The Reds should win but who will that be as both clubs share the same nickname? Kick-off on Tuesday is 7.45pm.
