The story behind the picture – Seeing double

This photograph is quite recent, taken before Reds pre-season friendly at Borough Park on 25 July, 2015 when our South Cumbrian neighbours, Barrow, came to town.  

Both teams included twin brothers in their squads with Sam and Jake Smith representing Reds whilst Alex and Elliot Newby turned out for Barrow.

The Barrow manager was Darren Edmondson and, apart from the Newby brothers, there were several other players in his squad with Reds connections: Aaran Taylor, Jason Walker, Joel Dixon, Andy Cook, Niall Cowperthwaite and Dav Symington.

A goalless draw was the outcome with Jake Simpson coming closest to scoring, only to be denied by a fine Taylor save.
