The story behind the picture – Legends from different eras

A photograph capturing Workington heroes from different eras.

Bobby Brown (left) played for twelve seasons between 1956 and 1967 whilst Kyle May turned out for thirteen consecutive seasons before coming back, briefly, for a fourteenth campaign, between 2004 and 2019.

Both were accomplished defenders, both captained the team and both gave wonderful service to Reds during their distinguished careers.  The picture was taken three years before Bobby’s passing in 2019.

Between them, they made over one thousand competitive appearances for the club with Kyle (555) eventually surpassing Bobby’s (469) club record which had stood for over fifty years.

Two Reds legends – of that there is no doubt!
