SIGNING: Striker Jerome swaps Rammy for Reds

We are delighted to announce the signing of striker Ruiben Jerome as our second new signing ahead of next season.

Jerome, 25, has been around the Northern Premier League for various years and was with our biggest challengers at the top of the table, Ramsbottom United, last campaign.

His goal in their January win over us was one of 16 strikes in 28 league appearances during the term, and will join fellow recent recruit Louis Potts competing for a spot in the forward line.

After his first training session with his new teammates, the brother of former Premier League striker Cameron explained how the move came about.

“It happened last week, the Club and Danny got in contact with me on separate occasions,” he said.

“They told me about their ambitions for next season – individually and for the team.

“Being an ambitious person, it’s something that’s right up my street; to come in and pick up where we left off last year.”

So what kind of player is the former Ram hitman? Well, Jerome described himself, saying: “Some of my strengths would be my good work-rate, I can score but I’m a team player, really.

“I’ll just come in, whether I’m starting or not, and try to believe in the boys to help us push on.”

With the uncertainty surrounding when and how the upcoming campaign will begin, the former Brighouse Town and Droylsden man revealed a trait which has kept him ready for next term.

“I’ve got good self-discipline anyways. I like to be out and about, doing something and keeping ticking over.

“The sooner we can get back to it, the better but obviously people’s lives have been affected and that’s priority.”

Welcome, Jerome!
