SIGNING: Nico is Reds’ next Rammy recruit
We are delighted to announce the signing of versatile forward Nico Evangelinos, who’ll be available for our friendly match at home to Morpeth Town tomorrow.
26-year-old Evangelinos, who hails from Bolton and last played at Ramsbottom United, trained with the squad first-team on Thursday evening and has signed for the 2021-22 season.
Willcock told Cumbria Crack: “I signed Nico for Ramsbottom after watching him play locally with Ashton United where he helped them win promotion to Conference North.
“He is a smashing lad, a great team player and one who both scores and creates goals. He scored 52 in 72 games for Rammy and made a lot of others.
“He’s going to add a lot to our squad as he can play left or right of a front three, and also down the middle.
“At Ramsbottom he was a firm fans’ favourite and I’m sure once he gets the red kit on he is going to be a favourite of the Workington supporters.
“I am really delighted to be linking-up with him again for the new season.”
Nico’s arrival reunites a forward line that Willcock managed at Ramsbottom – with Reuben Jerome and Iyrwah Gooden.
However, we won’t see it tomorrow for the friendly with Morpeth at Borough Park as Reuben will join Liam Lightfoot and Scott Allison on the unavailable list.
“Ruben is not feeling well but we don’t think it’s Covid-related,” Willock said.
“However as a precaution we are keeping him away from the rest of the squad.”
Kick-off tomorrow is at 3pm, we hope to see you there!
