Scott Allison: I’m expecting to score in every game
December Player of the Month Scott Allison has said he’s ‘expecting to score in every game at the moment.’
Allison netted for the eighth consecutive game on Saturday, after bagging the team’s second in the 2-0 win over Marske United.
The result kept us top of the North West Division on Saturday and speaking post-match at Borough Park, the red-hot striker gave his thoughts on an important afternoon in the campaign.
“It was massive,” he stated regarding the victory.
“We expect three points every game, at home especially.
“It was important to put down a marker today against one of our title rivals.”
Reds were dominant from the off, and Allison made no bones about his view of the game, saying: “I think we’ve absolutely battered them, to be fair; they’ve not been in the game.
“It was a massive three points.”
His 88th-minute goal sealed those points and means it’s now 10 total goals in the aforementioned eight matches for ‘The Ginger Messi.’
Reds have scored plenty of pleasing-on-the-eye goals this season, but the number nine’s instinctive finish from a ricochet in the penalty area was just as pleasing as any – even if it should’ve added to his tally on the day according to him.
“I’m disappointed in myself today to be honest,” revealed Allison.
“I think I should’ve had three, maybe four goals but that’s just be being critical of myself.
“Every type of goal is important. We’re creating a lot of chances, which is the good thing.
“One of these days, we’re gonna absolutely smash a team but it’s just a matter of time.
“Taking our chances in very important.”
On his goalscoring form, he explained: “I’ve probably never been on a run like this before, if I’m honest.
“I’m coming into games just sort of knowing I’m gonna score.
“Even today, I missed three or four but I knew if I kept going, I’d get another chance and I’d score.
“Thankfully, it came in the end.
“Confidence is high and I’m just expecting to score every in game at the moment.”
His late goal was vital given that second-place Ramsbottom United won late on, which is where Reds travel on Saturday for a huge table-topping clash.
Referencing the reverse fixture in September, the hitman is expecting a Rammy reaction.
“Another big game,” said Allison.
“We beat them 5-1 here so we’ll be expecting a reaction from them.”
“But if we can play like we can play, I think we’ll get three points again.”
Kick-off on Saturday at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium is 3pm.
