Reds to play an eighth friendly

Reds have an accepted an invitation from Atherton Collieries and will visit last season’s NPL West Division champions for a final friendly on Saturday 10 August.

It will be their eighth away game in the build-up to the new season which gets underway a week later, 17 August.

Colls, managed by former Manchester United and Oldham Athletic player Michael Clegg, will be replacing Reds in the BetVictor Premier Division this season having won the West Division title, by some distance, last April.

Workington’s only other appearance on the Alder House ground was over twenty years ago, with Grant Holt scoring in our final away game of the memorable title-winning 98-99 campaign.  We won 2-0 on that occasion.
