Reds on the cup trail
There’s Tuesday night football at Borough Park with the return of Ossett United to West Cumbria for Integro League Cup action (7.45pm).
United should have been here three weeks ago but the remnants of Storm Ciara saw the game cancelled. The weather has improved considerably since Storm Jorge swept through on Saturday and we fully expect the 3rd Round tie to go ahead as scheduled.
United, who have yet to concede a goal in the competition, will be eager to get back in action after suffering another postponement at the weekend. And they will be keen to salvage some form of revenge against Reds having lost home and away to Danny Grainger’s side in the league.
The Workington boss is short of options with four players injured and Jordan Little on holiday but he will shuffle the pack and start with a different XI to the one that took to the field on Saturday.
United still languish in 18th place in the table but have recorded impressive victories in the League Cup against Pontefract Collieries (2-0, away) and Brighouse Town (3-0, at home).
Reds progressed after home wins over Kendal Town (6-1) and Mossley (2-0).
And the winners of Tuesday’s encounter will be at home in the quarter final to the winners of the Sheffield/Trafford match, which will be played concurrently.
There will be coverage of the game on BBC Radio Cumbria and Paul Armstrong will be operating his Live Scoreboard service, via the web site, but the best option is to wrap up warm and get along to Borough Park.
