Reds on Radio
BBC Radio Cumbria kept Workington supporters entertained throughout Tuesday evening’s Sports Extra programme with presenter James Phillips inviting Reds assistant manager, Steven Rudd, and skipper, Conor Tinnion as his studio guests.
And the duo were on throughout the three-hour show, with the majority of the programme devoted to Reds’ wonderful season and the people involved at the club – on and off the pitch.
Both spoke articulately about Saturday’s 4-2 victory at Tadcaster Albion, the final game by one of the county’s senior sides for the foreseeable future.
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”43″ display=”basic_slideshow”]Conor spoke about the wonderful tackle towards the end of the first half which denied Tad striker, Jake Day, a certain goal. His two cracking goals also got a mention by the modest captain.
Supporters were updated on Nathan Waterston’s shoulder injury which curtailed the striker’s afternoon at the Global Stadium.
The lads also revealed some of the dressing room secrets and the characters within the four walls of the inner sanctum and suffice to say there will be some ‘retaliation’ by team mates in the coming days.
Their ‘normal’ jobs away from football were also discussed.
Former Reds assistant boss, Kenny Brown (Tommy Cassidy’s right-hand man fourteen years ago) and current manager, Danny Grainger, joined the debate via telephone as the light-hearted ramblings kept us tuned in for the duration.
