Reds Ladies maintain impressive away form
Workington Reds Ladies consolidated 5th position in Division One North of the North West Women’s Regional League with a straightforward 3-1 win against Accrington Stanley CT.
They maintained their impressive form on the road with a comfortable victory, albeit against the side rooted to the foot of the table.
Jess Reynolds opened the scoring with a well taken goal following a corner routine after sixteen minutes.
But the Community Trust team equalised ten minutes later, striking via the penalty spot with matters still all square at the interval.
Three minutes into the second half, Reds were back in front when Paige Johnstone restored the one goal advantage and they were in no mood to relinquish the lead a second time.
A shot rebounding off the woodwork and the ball trickling along, but not crossing the goal line, delayed the comfort of a third goal until just before the end when Reynolds netted her second, Reds third.
Stanley did have a brief spell of domination but they rarely troubled Laura Miller in the Reds goal.
Several good individual performances on the day, particularly from Chloe Henderson who excelled in midfield.
