Reds’ Inclusive team’s inaugural tournament
Reds’ new Inclusive team competed well in their inaugural tournament tonight in Carlisle.
Played in the fast paced environment of the Soccer World cages an 8 man squad aquited themselves well against more experienced opposition.
The first game against Windscale started at a lightening pace with Reds finding themselves 3 goals down in under 2 minutes! They soon settled and competed better against the eventual winners, the game ended 7-4 to the Atoms.
Next up were Carlisle Utd Community Sports Trust and an entertaining game ended 6-3 to Carlisle.
The final group game saw Reds face Carlisle Reivers and in a very tight game they were a tad unlucky to be on the end of a 3-2 reverse having twice taken the lead.
That concluded the competitive element but the evening finished with an impromptu friendly against a very impressive Carlisle City Deaf FC who ran out comfortable winners.
Tonight wasn’t about results though as the positives to be taken from this team taking to the pitch go far further than mere results.
Cumberland FA have a fantastic asset in its Ability Counts League and we look forward to playing a full part in it as we develop this team in 2023.
