Reds host Lilywhites

Danny Grainger will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself on Saturday when Reds host seventh placed Mossley at Borough Park (3pm).

Last year’s excellent start to the league campaign was brought to an abrupt halt when we played the Seel Park men. We had won four and drew two of our opening six matches but then dropped our first three points at Mossley.

Reds are again unbeaten ahead of Saturday’s fixture but will be aware of the threat posed by David Fish’s side. They have six points so far, thanks to victories over Ossett United (2-0) and Pickering Town (4-1), in what has been a very strange start to the season for them.

All seven of their matches to date have been played on home soil with the trip to Cumbria their first away game.

They have played four league games and three FA Cup ties at Seel Park.

Below strength Reds will be without a quintet of injured players once again as well as Tuesday’s debutant, Levi Amantchi, who has now opted to sign for Darlington.

Workington met Mossley three times last season and, after the 2-0 loss at Seel Park, won twice at Borough Park by the same 2-0 margin, in the League Cup and League respectively.

They finished 7th in last season’s incomplete campaign and are in a similar position at present.
