Reds head east

Danny Grainger’s top-of-the-table side head east on Saturday for their latest North West fixture, making a first ever visit to Marske United’s Mount Pleasant ground (3pm).

And they will be up against the division’s only remaining unbeaten side in the 4th v. 1st encounter.

The Teesside outfit are a bit behind with their fixtures but have recorded home wins over City of Liverpool (1-0), Droylsden (6-0) and Dunston (2-1) and drawn against Widnes (1-1). On the road, they won at Brighouse (1-0) and drew at Trafford (1-1).

It will be another tough examination for Reds who have picked up just one point from their three most recent away games. They go in search of league win number eight, however, which is all they managed throughout the whole of last season!

Other than Sam Smith (suspended), Reds will be near to full strength for the first visit of a Workington team to Marske since we played in the Wearside League twenty years ago.

• Meanwhile, on Friday (7.45pm), Reds Youth team also head for the north east when they travel to play Morpeth Town in Second Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup. Follow both games with Paul Armstrong on the Live Scoreboard via the club’s website.
