Preparations underway

The Reds squad took their first steps towards the 2021-22 campaign when pre-season training got underway.

Steven Rudd and twenty five players gathered for the pipe-opener with the group addressed by club chairman, Dave Bowden, before undergoing a gentle two hour session.

Bowden met with the players beforehand, updating the group on the managerial situation following the recent departure of Danny Grainger.

Kieran Charlton and Iyrwah Gooden, Grainger’s two most recent recruits, were welcomed by their new colleagues as were six members of the Development Squad and three players attending on a trial basis.

Two ‘injured’ players took no active part with Robbie Hebson, awaiting a scan on his troublesome knee, and Jordan Little, recovering from an operation a fortnight ago, offering support to their team mates from the touchline.

Rudd was pleased with the start and complimented the players on their fitness levels.

“They all came back in good shape, the attitude was good and they are all ready to go again,” he said.
