Penultimate test
Reds will travel to Radcliffe on Saturday (3pm) for their penultimate pre-season friendly and a first visit to the now named Neuven Stadium for fourteen years.
The teams were regular opponents from the late eighties until the mid-2000s but crossed paths in opposite directions at the end of last season – Radcliffe winning promotion to the Premier Division via a play-off win over Leek Town and Reds dropping to Step 4 after relegation.
It will be another tough examination for Danny Grainger’s depleted squad but the sort of game needed with just a fortnight to go before the serious stuff commences.
The manager will be without seven members of the squad due to a combination of skipper Conor Tinnion’s wedding, holidays and injuries.
Now managed by Jon Macken and operating under a new name, Radcliffe finished runners-up in the West Division last term winning twenty-three league games and scoring seventy-three league goals in the process.
