A very special guest made a sentimental return to Borough Park forty-three years ago, performing the opening ceremony to a bar named in his honour.

Bill Shankly returned to the club he managed in 1954/5 and cut the ribbon to the Shankly Lounge, situated beneath the south corner of the main stand at Borough Park.
It was a wonderful experience for club officials as Shanks entertained a captivated audience for the lunch time occasion. He was later interviewed by local television and radio and photographed on the pristine pitch with his long-time friend, groundsman Billy Watson.

Sadly, Shankly died just over twelve months later making his visit even more special for those that met him,
