On this day – 20 May

A look through the archives to see what was happening to Reds on the 20th May fifty-four years ago……….

There was a late finish to the 1965-66 season with Reds playing their final away game on the south coast against Brighton & Hove Albion.

A week after the Cup Final (Everton 3 Sheffield Wednesday 2), Reds travelled to the Goldstone Ground in good form – unbeaten in seven – but they came unstuck in the Friday night Division Three fixture, losing 3-1.

Peter Foley (pictured) netted our consolation goal in front of a healthy 9,137 attendance.
