On this day – 15 July
Reflecting on a Friday evening stroll four years ago when Reds completed a cross-border raid with a comprehensive victory at Raydale Park……….
2016
The lads emerged emphatic 6-0 winners in a pre-season friendly at Gretna 2008 – our best, and probably easiest, win over the Black & Whites.
Tom Kilifin scored his first two goals for the club to establish a 2-0 interval lead before Scott Allison (2), Conor Tinnion and Lewis Jolly added four more in a one-sided second half.
Jake Simpson skippered the side which saw Matty Douglas having his first run-out with the club following his release from Carlisle United and a subsequent trial at Hartlepool United. He performed well as did Phil McLuckie who was returning after a lengthy injury lay-off.
The downside was injuries picked up by former Lancaster City duo, Kilifin and Rob Wilson, neither of whom lasted the ninety minutes.
It was the fourth of nine friendlies played by Reds that summer.
