On this day – 10 July

In normal circumstances, Reds would now be playing pre-season games but without the traditional warm-up fixtures to whet our appetite for the 2020-21 campaign, we reflect on matches played on the 10th July in previous years…………

2010

Reds emerged 1-0 winners in a home friendly versus Gateshead with Matty Tymon (pictured) heading the only goal mid-way through the second half.

2012

Barrow, skippered by Gavin Skelton, emerged comfortable 3-0 winners against Reds at Holker Street.

Darren Edmondson used twenty three players in the match with Reds supporters getting their first look at the likes of Niall Cowperthwaite, Zach Clark, Callum Hassan, Chris Wraighte, Stuart Dixon, Phil Storey and Neil Wainwright.

The home side was also packed with trial players, two of whom found the target in the second half.
