Old boys reunion

There will be a reunion of sorts on Tuesday when Reds travel across the border to play Gretna 2008 at Raydale Park (7.30pm).

Danny Grainger will be making a nostalgic return to the ground where his illustrious career began back in 2002 and he will be joined by several other former ‘black & whites’ in the current Reds squad.

By the same token, a few members of the Gretna squad have Workington connections.

When the current Gretna club reformed in 2008, their first match was at Borough Park, with a 5-0 score line favouring the Reds.  Since then, we have played a further four friendlies against them winning on each occasion.

Reds v. Gretna

Danny celebrates his birthday this week so another win in the series might be on his wishlist but getting game time for the full squad will be the overall priority.

This will be Reds’ sixth game of pre-season, all of them away, so credit to the squad (and the supporters) for clocking up the miles even before the serious stuff starts.

Gretna’s Lowland League campaign gets underway on Saturday so it’s a final dress rehearsal for them.

As ever, Paul Armstrong will be providing updates on the Live Scoreboard via the club’s website.
