North East trip for Reds Youth

Reds’ reward for knocking Penrith out of The FA Youth Cup last week is a trip to play Morpeth Town in the Second Qualifying Round.

That match will be played at Craik Park on Friday 4 October with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The Youth team, managed by Craig Johnston and Stuart Williamson, are entering unchartered waters in the competition as they bid for a third successive victory.

It will be a tough assignment in the north east with Morpeth very strong at junior levels. They have registered two away wins so far – an emphatic 11-0 romp at Guisborough Town in the first round followed by a 3-1 success at Spennymoor United last week.

Reds began with a 3-2 extra time victory against Hebburn Town then disposed of Penrith, 7-2, last week, both at Borough Park.

It will be the first visit to Morpeth by a Reds team for twenty two years and Stuart Williamson played in the game – a pre-season friendly which resulted in a 4-4 draw.
