No place to hide

We are now down to the last two months of what we all recognise has been a difficult season as we face the umpteenth ‘must win’ game at Borough Park.

And there is no hiding place for Reds as they host Hyde United hoping to end a run of three consecutive home defeats.

It will be the thirty-fourth league meeting between the clubs, the goalless draw at Ewen Fields in October the most recent, and is a fixture that could go either way based on previous encounters.

Reds have won twelve times (six at home, six away) in the series, Hyde have won eleven (including six successes in Workington) with ten of the matches drawn.

But the Tigers are enjoying a much better campaign and are currently in 9th position with 46 points obtained from their 32 matches. They have won five away games so far, including an incredible 8-3 victory at Basford United.

Reds have occupied 21st position since just after the 0-0 draw at Hyde back in October. It was a decent performance from the boys that night with the better chances falling to us – Kieran Maguire’s shot touched onto the bar – as we obtained our first away point of the season.

Lee Andrews will assess the fitness of both Dan Carmichael and Conor Tinnion on Saturday as both remain doubts after missing training.
