NHS benefit from virtual action replay

Workington Reds innovative fundraising idea in May drew world-wide interest when the club recreated their most famous match, the FA Cup Third Round tie v. Manchester United.

As part of the club’s Covid 19 survival appeal, the classic match played in January, 1958, was ‘broadcast’ to the masses sixty-two years after the original game at Borough Park.

And celebrating one of the biggest days in the club’s past helped continue the task of securing the Reds future whilst recognising our wonderful NHS workers during these difficult times with a 25% pledge of all donations received.

Chairman Les Byers, instrumental in the production of the event, handed over a cheque to Workington Health Limited for £1,830. The presentation at Workington Hospital was attended by three young players from Workington Reds Juniors, Austin Smith, Isaac Earl and Danny Hilferty, alongside two of our most loyal, senior fans, Gordon McAllister and Albert White, who actually attended the original game.
