Recap
The young Reds made their County League debut at their new home, the Lakes College, but couldn’t mark the occasion with a victory. They conceded a goal in each half – one a bit scrappy and preventable, the other a superb effort worthy of winning any game.
Despite the defeat, team manager Lee Mccullough was pleased with the overall performance saying, “We played out from the back and our possession was good throughout but credit to Wigton who made the best of the chances which came their way.”
Jonny Studholme was credited with both Harriers goals, the first after ten minutes could have been dealt with better by the Reds defence.
But his second in the seventy-fifth minute rocketed into the top corner of the net from fully twenty-five yards.
Ben Davidson and Josh Palmer squandered reasonable chances in the first half and the same two players, along with Cain Pears, Zach Lester and Jack Dunstan, saw efforts competently dealt with by the Wigton ‘keeper after the interval.
Reds have a break from league action next week, embarking on the Conway Cup competition in an away tie at Carlisle City.
Team: Scott Paden-Gale, Ben Wade (Hayden Rae), Dan Whitehead, Hayden Percival (Robbie Wilson), Louis Moore, Zach Martin, Zach Lester, Cain Pears, Ben Davidson (Matty Foster), Jack Brown (Jack Dunstan), Josh Palmer.
