Recap
Meeting for the second time this season, Reds avenged an earlier league defeat by making progress in the Conway Cup.
After a delay caused by a serious injury to the Unisun goalkeeper, it was Reds who opened the scoring after a poor back pass presented Tyler Harrell with an opportunity he gleefully accepted.
But the Carlisle side reacted well and they enjoyed a purple patch which led to an equaliser from Dorin Covaci.
Reds then took control of the game and they regained their one goal lead before half time. Good work from Luke Knowles on the flank culminated in a cross to the far post and Chad Grisdale tapped home from close range to put the home side ahead at the break.
Workington had things their own way for much of the second half and they enjoyed plenty of possession and passed the ball well.
Cain Pears put them further ahead with a well worked goal and that just about took the game out of Unisun’s reach.
The victory was secured with a fourth goal, probably the best of the match. Alfie Schofield and Pears linked well, played a good one-two before Schofield (pictured) found the corner of the net from the edge of the box.
