Recap
Reds’ six match unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt in a poor showing at the Sheepmount.
They were second best from start to finish and couldn’t deal with Pirelli’s direct approach on a ‘very small’ pitch.
The Greens were four goals to the good inside twenty minutes and it was a damage limitation job thereafter.
In a game containing three penalties, Pirelli converted two but Reds missed their spot-kick which might have provided a lifeline had they converted. It was not to be.
Kieron Blair finished the afternoon with a hat-trick, including the two pens, with Ben Campbell helping himself to a brace.
Tom Houghton, Reds top scorer, netted what was effectively their consolation goal at 0-4 but he was forced off at half time after sustaining a knee injury.
He would have probably taken the penalty Reds were awarded in the second half but Leon Dmytrowski’s effort cleared the crossbar to compound a frustrating afternoon.
It doesn’t get any easier for Reds who host league leaders, Aspatria, in their final home game on Saturday.
