Recap
The Development Squad have produced some good performances in pre-season without tasting victory but that changed against the West Lancashire League side.
After conceding the opening goal with just eight minutes on the clock, Reds reacted positively and eventually won by the odd goal in three and deservedly so too.
They were back on terms midway through the first half when Jaden Scott netted from about ten yards and then started to boss large parts of the game.
Spencer Bland and Chad Grisdale both put in a tremendous shift in the engine room but every player, and the substitutes, made a valuable contribution.
The winner came from Harry Watson thanks to a superb solo effort. He collected the ball on the left flank, leaving three players in his wake as he sped towards goal, before rolling the ball nonchalantly beyond the ‘keeper and into the net.
Next up for Reds is a tough looking game at Westmorland League outfit, Kirkoswald, on Tuesday (6.45pm).
Team: Mansur, Cooke, Williamson, Birkett, Bell, Davidson, Grisdale, Bland, Watson, Harrell, Scott. Substitutes – Knowles, Keenan, Scofield (all used).
