MATCH REPORT: Workington Reds Ladies 0 Blackpool Girls 5

It has been a tough couple of weeks for Reds Ladies with two heavy defeats inflicted upon them in the North West Women’s Regional League.

They were hit for six at Blackburn Community Sports Club in their most recent away game and lost heavily on home soil to an impressive Blackpool outfit.

The game was effectively over by half time with the Tangerines star player, Aimee Shaw, helping herself to a hat-trick after seven, thirty two and forty two minutes.

Reds hardly threatened the Blackpool goal in the first half but made a better fist of it after the interval.

Skipper Linzi Donaldson’s free kick was touched on to the crossbar by ‘keeper Maisie Rogers who then gathered shots from Caitlin Davis and Hayley Bracken.  That was the nearest they came to a consolation goal but Blackpool finished strongly and added two further goals with Emily Cardwell netting both.

It doesn’t get any easier for Reds next week when they travel to play Hartlepool United Ladies in the Second Qualifying Round of The Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
