MATCH REPORT: Penwortham Town Ladies 1-2 Workington Reds Ladies
Reds Ladies returned to winning ways with a morale boosting success on the road, helping them complete a league double over Penwortham in the process.
They had gone six league games without a win, and also suffered Cumberland Cup disappointment with a semi-final defeat against league rivals Penrith at Borough Park.
So the win at Preston was a timely boost and will lift spirits ahead of the derby against Carlisle United next week.
They conceded the opening goal at Penwortham and were still a goal down at the break.
But Eleanor McDonald (pictured, top) then hammered home her first ever goal for the club with a strike from well outside the box. Normally an unsung hero at the back, El ventured forward early in the second half and netted her maiden goal for Reds with an unstoppable shot.
The game remained level for a further half hour until Hannah Geen (pictured below) scored the welcome winner ten minutes before the end.

Their ninth win of the season leaves them in 5th position in Division One North with just three league matches remaining.
