MATCH REPORT: Penwortham Town Ladies 0-1 Workington Reds Ladies

Sometimes teams thrive on adversity and Reds Ladies certainly did that in their final game of 2023.

Injuries and unavailability left them well short of players for their trip down the M6 but a fine display of character and determination was rewarded with a first away win of the season.

They only had eleven players to select from, and that included two goalkeepers, with Kayce Whineray adapting as an outfield player for the day.

The match winning goal came in the first half with Hayley Bracken heading home her tenth goal of the season to secure three valuable points against one of the teams below them in the Division One North table.

Reds, now seventh in the twelve strong division, can regroup over the Festive period ready to resume league action in January.

Team: Laura Miller, Kayce Whineray, Linzi Donaldson, Hannah Ridgewell, Nat Hooper, Chloe Henderson, Hayley Bracken, Sophie Birkett, Keeley Holliday, Laura Ivison, Hannah Geen.
