MATCH REPORT: Penrith Ladies 1-3 Workington Reds Ladies

Hayley Bracken put her injury frustrations behind her by finishing the season with a hat-trick.

She went home with the match ball after completing a wonderful personal campaign taking her tally to 25 goals, 23 of which in Division One North.

The victory at Frenchfield was a satisfying way to end the season after failing to win their two home encounters against the Blues.

Chloe Henderson was involved in Bracken’s first two goals with Helen Wagstaff’s assist leading to her third. Penrith, guilty of squandering several good scoring opportunities, had equalised through Hannah Coulthard.

With Bracken in good form leading the line, Wagstaff and Henderson pulling the strings in midfield, Reds’ solid spine was completed by the outstanding Holly Redmond and Naomi Foster at the back.

This was their eleventh league win of their best ever season at this level, the sixth on the road.

The win took Reds to 5th position in the league although Penrith could leapfrog them in the final reckoning as they have two games to play.
