MATCH REPORT: Haslingden Ladies & Girls 1-1 Workington Reds Ladies

Another good performance on the road from Reds Ladies consolidated third position in the Division One North table after they had dented Haslingden’s 100% league record.

The hosts have played fewer games than anyone else in the league but had won all of their matches to date.

But Reds were good value for the point and were unlucky not to claim all three with two decent chances late in the game.

The effort, commitment and quality of football produced by both teams was of a high standard although an even contest produced few clear-cut scoring opportunities

In-form Hayley Bracken added another goal to her tally with a fine individual effort, giving Reds a half time lead.  Collecting the ball just inside the Haslingden half, she set off for goal, rounded the ‘keeper and placed the ball into the vacant net.

Reds kept the hosts at bay until midway through the second half when they netted the equaliser.

Chloe Henderson narrowly missed the target with one good effort and Bracken saw her late shot just clear the bar as they pressed for a winner.

They face Penrith Ladies next week in an important A66 derby with the fourth placed Blues only two points behind Workington.
