MATCH PREVIEW: Time to re-focus

After the lack of action over the past five weeks, Reds have to re-focus immediately and attempt and get the promotion bid back on track as soon as possible.

The NPL West Division’s ‘match of the day’ sees them return to action in a tough looking assignment against Leek Town at Harrison Park.  At the same time, leaders Warrington Rylands travel to play City of Liverpool whilst Marine host 1874 Northwich.

Third placed Leek and second in the table Reds are two of the clubs involved in what has evolved as a four-pronged attack on the title.  Workington and Marine have games in hand on Rylands and Town but it is difficult to name a favourite at this stage.

Back in September, the teams drew 1-1 at Borough Park with Paul Marshall on target for Reds and Will Saxon equalising for Neil Baker’s side.

Brad Carroll’s header vs Leek Town

Workington’s last visit to Harrison Park was in 2019 for an FA Trophy tie with a stunning Brad Hubbold goal the highlight of an impressive 3-1 victory.  We have played each other twelve times in NPL action with Town emerging victors on six occasions, Reds winning four times and two matches drawn.
