MATCH PREVIEW: Time to break the mould
Whether it be at their magnificent former Park Avenue home, Batley’s Mount Pleasant rugby league ground or the Horsfall Stadium, their home since the late nineties, Bradford has never been a happy hunting ground for Reds.
Indeed, our visits to the West Yorkshire city have been somewhat demoralising in terms of results:
In three FA Cup visits to Bradford – we have lost all three.
In fourteen Football League games at Park Avenue – we won once, drew twice and lost eleven.
In five NPL visits to Mount Pleasant/Horsfall Stadium – we drew one and lost four.
In two Conference North fixtures at Horsfall – we lost both.
Surely, by the law of averages, those depressing statistics have to change as Reds travel for game number eight in this season’s NPL Premier Division.
Since our last sortie there, the pitch has transformed from grass to 3G – one of eight synthetic surfaces in the Premier Division this term. Strangely, Bradford’s three home games so far have been against teams who also play on 3G – Ilkeston Town (4-1), Morpeth Town (2-0) and Macclesfield (0-2) so a tough task for the lads on the evidence of those results.
They are currently below Reds in the table – we are 15th with 9 points, they are 16th with 8 points – so an important game for both clubs
