MATCH PREVIEW: Surrey Street tester for Reds

Danny Grainger’s Reds will turn their attention to the FA Trophy on Saturday when they head for north Derbyshire to take on Glossop North End.

The North West league leaders will find Glossop tough opposition on their own patch despite what appears to be a poor away record in the South East section.

All seven of their league points have been obtained at home in contrast to their away form which has yielded nothing so far after four successive defeats.

It will be the third time the clubs have met in the Trophy, Glossop knocking us out in 1986 and Reds winning three years ago – both after the original game had finished in a draw.  There will be no need for a replay on this occasion, of course, with the game settled on the day, via a penalty shoot out if necessary.

Whilst Reds were getting the better of Pontefract Collieries in the previous round, Glossop progressed without kicking a ball having been drawn to play Droylsden.  They were given a ‘walkover’ after the demise of the Manchester club.

Grainger has a strong squad available but will shuffle the pack again following last week’s league win at Ossett United.

Kick-off 3pm
